Flagship Pioneering is a venture creation firm that builds companies from first scientific principles, primarily in biotechnology, life sciences, and frontier science. Unlike traditional VCs, Flagship rarely evaluates inbound pitches and instead forms companies internally around proprietary research platforms. It is relevant almost exclusively for scientists, researchers, or founders commercializing breakthrough science, and is not appropriate for SaaS, fintech, consumer, or conventional tech startups.
