The Long Island Angel Network (LIAN) was incorporated as a New York not-for-profit corporation to provide access to seed-stage funding for start-ups and early-stage businesses. In the last four years, LIAN has reviewed more than 600 applications for financing from start-up ventures and early-stage companies located on Long Island or potentially willing to relocate to the region with an investment commitment. LIAN takes an interest in investing in companies with a focus on software and information technology, biotechnology, nanotechnology, medicine, and energy. About two dozen applications for financing are typically reviewed for every monthly meeting of the LIAN Board of Directors.
