Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth Health System (SCL Health) is an independent non-profit foundation based in Broomfield, Colorado. Established in 1864, the foundation primarily focuses on improving the health of the people and communities especially those who are poor and vulnerable. It was founded by the Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth, who opened their first hospital in 1864. In 2011, the sisters transferred sponsorship of SCL Health to Leaven Ministries. The assets of the foundation are managed by the board of directors.Sisters of Charity of Leavenworth Health System's investment portfolio is valued at $2.25 billion, with investments in private equity, real estate, hedge funds, infrastructure, special opportunistic funds, publicly-traded equities, fixed income securities, and cash.
