Description
State Universities Retirement System (SURS) is a public pension fund based in Champaign, Illinois. The Governor and General Assembly founded the SURS in 1941 as an administrator of benefits for employees of the University of Illinois. The pension fund provides retirement, survivor, disability, and death benefits to the employees of public universities, community colleges, and other affiliated state agencies. The assets of the pension fund are governed by an eleven-member board of trustees and by the executive and investment committee.
