Village Capital

Village Capital is a Washington, D.C.-based impact-driven venture capital and accelerator organization founded in 2009, recognized as the largest organization in the world supporting impact-focused seed-stage startups. The organization operates a distinctive peer-selection model in which entrepreneurs in accelerator cohorts evaluate and rank one another, with the highest-ranked companies receiving pre-committed seed investments from its affiliated fund VilCap Investments, a model designed to surface high-potential founders who are often overlooked by traditional venture investors. Since its founding, Village Capital has supported over 1,400 startups from 28 countries that have collectively raised over $5 billion in investment capital, and has made more than 150 investments through its various fund vehicles. The organization focuses on startups addressing challenges in climate innovation and adaptation, economic mobility, and equitable access to essential services, and also supports a network of ecosystem-building organizations through its tools, curriculum, and the Abaca investment-readiness platform.
